A quiet tree-lined path symbolising a therapeutic journey

A space to reconnect with yourself

There are times in life when things can feel overwhelming, confusing, or difficult to carry on your own. You may be struggling with anxiety, addiction, relationship challenges, loss, low self-esteem, or a sense of feeling stuck.

Whatever brings you here, you don't have to face it alone.

Therapy with me offers a space where you can slow down, feel heard, and explore what's really going on beneath the surface. Together, we can make sense of the challenges you are facing, deepen your understanding of yourself, and help you move forward in a way that is meaningful and authentic.

My aim is to provide a warm, supportive, and non-judgemental space where you can bring all parts of yourself.

How I work

Many people come to me because something doesn't feel quite right, even if they can't always explain why. They may feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, or caught in patterns that seem hard to shift.

Often, they are people who are used to coping, sometimes very well, but sense that underneath something is not quite right, not quite settled.

As an integrative therapist, I offer a warm, collaborative space where we can gently explore what's happening beneath the surface. Together, we can make sense of your experiences, deepen your understanding of yourself, and help you move towards lasting change in a way that feels supportive, grounded, and sustainable.

If you are wondering whether therapy might be right for you, I offer a free 15-minute introductory call. It is an opportunity to ask questions, get a sense of how I work, and see whether working together feels like a good fit.

You might recognise

Sometimes, knowing something doesn't feel right is enough...

You don't need to arrive with a clear explanation for how you're feeling.

Therapy can be a space and a place to pause, explore what has been difficult to put into words, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself with compassion, support, and care.

You might recognise

  • Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or as though you're carrying more than you let others see
  • Being hard on yourself, even when you're doing your best
  • Finding yourself stuck in familiar patterns that no longer feel helpful
  • Struggling to set boundaries or feeling responsible for other people's needs
  • Feeling emotionally exhausted, disconnected, or not quite yourself
  • Knowing something needs to change, but unsure about where to begin
  • Turning to habits or coping strategies that once helped but now feel difficult to shift
  • Living with illness, uncertainty, or changes that have affected your sense of self
  • Carrying grief, loss, or life transitions that continue to have an impact
  • Feeling the effects of difficult or painful experiences, whether recent or long ago

Some of the things we may explore together

  • Relationship patterns that leave you feeling unseen, unheard, or disconnected
  • Dynamics of control, power, and self-doubt within relationships
  • Experiences that are difficult to name, explain, or fully make sense of
  • Emotional impact that has been minimised, normalised, or overlooked
  • The lasting effects of trauma and experiences that have shaped how you relate to yourself and others
  • Living with illness, loss, or significant life changes
  • Thoughtful, capable people who appear to be coping on the outside but feel 'stuck'

This includes, but is not limited to, experiences of losing trust in your own voice, questioning yourself, or adapting to relationships and circumstances in ways that have left you disconnected from who you are.

An integrative approach

Calm, thoughtful and collaborative therapy

No two people are the same, which is why I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.

As an integrative therapist, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to support your individual needs. Together, we will explore what is happening in your life with curiosity and compassion, creating space for greater understanding, choice, and change.

We do not rush or force change. Instead, we make sense of what is happening with care, at a pace that is safe and sustainable

In our work together, we may:

  • Explore what lies beneath the surface of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours
  • Understand patterns and responses with compassion rather than judgement
  • Work gently with both mind and body, recognising the connection between emotional and physical experience
  • Create space for new ways of relating to yourself and others
  • Explore how past experiences may continue to shape your present-day life

My work is informed by Compassionate Inquiry, Clinical & Cognitive Hypnotherapy, NLP, EFT, Havening, and other evidence-informed approaches that support lasting and meaningful change.

Compassionate Inquiry

Compassionate Inquiry, developed by Dr. Gabor Maté, is one of the approaches that most deeply informs my work.

At its heart is a simple belief that our thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and coping strategies make sense when understood in the context of our experiences.

Rather than asking "What's wrong with you?", we explore with curiosity and compassion what has shaped your experience and how it may be affecting you today. The story of our past so often shows up unconsciously in our day-to-day lives, and becoming conscious of this can be transformative.

This approach can help us gently uncover the patterns, beliefs, and emotional responses that have developed over time, creating space for greater understanding, self-compassion, and choice.

I have a deep and personal interest in financial abuse. My own journey through some decades of secrets, lies, false dawns and ultimately near financial ruin has provided a springboard to this attempt to help others do better than I did.

Frequently asked questions

Here are a few questions that often arise when people are considering starting therapy with me. If there’s something else you’re wondering about, you’re very welcome to ask.

You can bring whatever feels heavy, confusing, painful or simply “stuck”. I often work with themes such as anxiety, depression, addictions, grief, burnout, relationship difficulties and the impact of past experiences or trauma. You don't need a clear label or diagnosis for us to begin.

Compassionate Inquiry, developed by Dr Gabor Maté, is the foundation of my practice. It gently explores what lies beneath present-day struggles the beliefs, patterns and stories we’ve learned to carry and supports you in seeing them with clarity and compassion. From there, new possibilities and ways of relating to yourself can emerge.

I work with adults from all walks of life who are curious about understanding themselves more deeply and finding more ease. I also have particular experience supporting people in high-stress roles, including several years working with police officers and frontline professionals.

Sessions are offered both online and in person. We can explore together what feels most comfortable and appropriate for you when we first connect.

The relationship between therapist and client is central to the work. An introductory call gives us a chance to meet, for you to share a little about what's bringing you to therapy, and to ask any questions you may have about how I work. From there you can decide, at your own pace, whether you'd like to begin.

What clients say

Stories from people who worked with Lorraine — from stage nerves and burnout to sleep and birth.

I worked with Lorraine when I was facing issues with my confidence whilst performing on stage. This confidence problem was serious enough to cause me to take time off from my dancing career.

Lorraine provided support that went much further than that provided by most counsellors. She took time to understand the full extent of my issues and helped me to trace them back. Using this knowledge we worked together to find solutions to the issues.

Throughout my time with Lorraine she has never rushed the treatment and has let me go at my own pace which has helped me get back on stage and do what I love. I owe her my career.
