A new book in preparation

The Economics of Silence

Financial abuse is a subject that is deeply personal to me.

My interest in this work comes not only from my professional experience, but also from my own journey through years of secrecy, confusion, false hope, and ultimately the devastating impact of longterm financial abuse.

As part of my ongoing research, I am speaking with people who have lived through these experiences, listening to their stories and exploring the often-hidden emotional, psychological, and practical consequences of financial abuse.

This work also forms part of my Master's research in Trauma at the University of Cork.

My hope is that this book will help bring greater understanding to an issue that is often experienced in silence and isolation, while giving voice to those whose stories deserve to be heard.

More updates will follow as the project develops.

I have a deep and personal interest in financial abuse. My own journey through some decades of secrets, lies, false dawns and ultimately near financial ruin has provided a springboard to this attempt to help others do better than I did.

I am researching aspects of financial abuse through my valued network to establish a consensus of experiences and views. I will keep you updated on early findings.

Secondly, I am conducting interviews with survivors from that primary research to inform my way forward in subject areas to explore more deeply, stories to characterise, and to enforce that necessarily HUMAN narrative.

Lastly, this book will also form part of my final year dissertation for my Masters in Trauma at the University of Cork.
